So, It's Pride Month & I Really Wanted To Talk About It.

I wanna say something. I don't know what's driving me to post this, but there's a force that is telling me to stop remaining silent about the things I care about. If you're an acquaintance of mine and you don't know something of me, please, do not assume you do now just because this post exists.

So June just happened.

It was a month full of love, acceptance and happiness. I tweeted the other day that I was hoping that the LGBTQ community had 12 pride months a year instead of having just one. 12 months where everyone can feel happy by loving whomever they want, where they can wear bright colours and to completely be the persons they are meant to be.

It's nice to finally have some LGBTQ representation in movies and tv series. Movies with deep messages like Call Me By Your Name, happy & simple Rom-Coms like Love, Simon, and down-to-Earth series like Élite are becoming the cornerstone of inclusion on broader scenarios. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that there is a gay couple of two teenagers on a Mexican Soap Opera (#Aristemo). Mass Media has the responsibility of showing us that these characters aren't weird, and that they aren't far from reality. They give hope to people who can feel & love like them. It's such a powerful feeling to realize that one is not that different from everyone else, to be able to identify yourself with a character on a specific scenario it's a feeling that anyone that is straight has the privilege to take it for granted.

For the last years I've had the honour of being surrounded by many different people that I love and cherish with all my heart. I have learned about me through their stories, and advices. I have become a more understanding person, someone who's not afraid of defending his point of view. I will speak up when I have to defend my way of thinking, or when I have to protect my friends or family. I hope I can help to make a change in our society. By supporting my friends, by listening and standing by their side, by talking some intolerant people into what love really means and how hate can affect others.

And sure, in 2019 it's still a tough war, there are some battles I am not brave enough to fight, but I think every step counts. I will fight for what think it's just for everyone, for what I think that will bring a brighter and more colourful future. It's okay to be you. 100% you. There will always be people that love you, cherish you, hug you, support you and cry with you.

I will keep growing. I will find ways to love me and everyone else more, 'cause #LoveWins, and Love is really the only way that we humans can and will be remembered by.
